수 선 화

 

                                                                    윌리엄   워즈워드

  

                               계곡과 언덕 위에 높히 떠도는 구름처럼

                               외로이 거닐다

                               나는 보았네.

                               호숫가 나무 아래

                               미풍에 흔들리는

                               한 무리의 황금빛 수선화를.

 

                               수선화는

                               은하수에 반짝이며 빛나는 별들처럼

                               물가를 따라

                               끝없이 줄지어 피어 있었지.

 

                               나는 한 눈에 보았네

                               수많은 꽃송이들이

                               기쁨에 넘쳐 머리 흔들며 춤추는 것을.

 

                              주변 물결도 춤을 추었으나

                              그 기쁨은 수선화를 이기지 못하였으니!

                              이렇게 즐거운 꽃들과 벗하였으니

                              어찌 시인은 기쁘지 않을 수 있으랴.

                              나는 보고 또 보았지만

                              그 광경이  내게 무슨 부를 가져다줄지는

                              생각 못했네.

 

                              텅 빈 마음으로 생각에 잠겨

                              장의자에 나 홀로 누워있을 때, 가끔

                              그 수선화 번쩍이며 떠오른다

                              고독의 축복인 내면의 눈에,

                              그러면 내 가슴 기쁨으로 가득차

                              수선화와 더불어 춤을 춘다.

 

 

 

 

 Daffodils

                                       I wander'd lonely as a cloud
                                      That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
                                      When all at once I saw a crowd,
                                      A host, of golden daffodils;
                                      Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
                                      Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

 

                                      Continuous as stars that shine
                                      And twinkle on the Milky Way,
                                      They stretch'd in never-ending line
                                      Along the margin of a bay :
                                      Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
                                      Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

 

 

                                      The waves beside them danced, but they
                                      Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
                                      A poet could not but be gay,
                                      In such a jocund company:
                                      I gazed-and gazed- but little thought
                                      What wealth the show to me had brought :

 

                                      For oft, when on my couch I lie
                                      In vacant or in pensive mood,
                                      They flash upon that inward eye
                                      Which is the bliss of solitude ;
                                      And then my heart with pleasure fills,
                                      and dances with the daffodils.
